Reducing End of Lease Costs for Copiers
You probably already know that returning leased equipment at the end of the lease is the lessee’s responsibility. So, how much will this “responsibility” cost? You can plan on paying about $300 to $500 per device to a shipping company to transport the equipment back to the address(es) the lease company specifies.
To keep these costs at a minimum, here are few things to try:
- If the devices that will be returned are scattered around at several different locations, consider having them all brought to a central location prior to pickup. (You can contact your service vendor to make arrangements for this.) Ask the shipping company for a quote for both scenarios so you know for sure just how much this will affect the costs.
- If the initial quote from the shipping company seems high, get quotes from a few more shipping companies.
- Make sure the pickup is well-coordinated so that the shipping company does not have to make a return trip. It will cost you extra if the shipping company has to return a second or third time to pick up the equipment.
