Why So Many? Avoiding Additional Copier/Printer Management Headaches!
In your office, does it seem like there is a printer on every desk and a copier at every street corner? Do you ever wonder to yourself where all this equipment came from?
Here’s what happened:
9 years ago, someone in your office decided a copier would be very handy to have and so Copier A was purchased.
And so there was one.
About 3 years later, it was time to upgrade! Copier B was purchased. However, instead of getting rid of Copier A, your neighbors in the next department over decided they could really use a copier, too, so Copier A was moved to their department.
Then there were two.
Another three years went by, new technology came out, and it was time to upgrade again. Copier C was purchased. However, instead of getting rid of Copier B, the folks using Copier A decided they were ready for an upgrade, too, so they took Copier B. Now, what to do with Copier A? It would be a shame to get rid of Copier A (it’s been running so well), so Copier A was moved to another department that hadn’t yet had their own copier.
Then there were three.
Now, everyone is used to having a copier within sight and a printer at arm’s reach. In and of itself, there is nothing wrong with this. However, if you’re frustrated by the amount of work involved in managing all this equipment and all the lease and maintenance contracts, if you’re concerned about the high cost of all the copier and printer equipment, or if you are interested in finding ways to promote sustainability within your office, now’s the time to figure out how to change the landscape!
